TRAVEL TO FUAHMULAH
Fuahmulah
was an unknown inhabited rock before 11.11.11, the date in which the atolls
domestic airport opened. This airport was built to transport prime ministers,
presidents and first ladies to fuahmulah during the 17 saarc summit held in the
southern part of the Maldives.
Fuahmulah
has more than a domestic airport and a world-famous beach. This atoll can offer
you a lot of history and historical landmarks. Let’s get it on.
Traditionally
Fuahmulah is divided into 8 wards, they are Dhadimago, Diguvāndo, Hōdhado,
Mādhado, Mālegan, Dūndigan, Miskimmago and Funādo.
We
are going to tour each of these wards separately.
Remember
the world-famous beach thoondu. It lies hear in Dhadimago. This beach is mostly
famous for its pearl white round pebble like sand. Moving on we have Dhadimagi
Kilhi. Dhadimagi khili is one of the two fresh water lakes in fuahmulah. This
lake is found in the center of the district. Our next stop is Gemmisky.
Gemmisky is the oldest building in the atoll, after the atoll was converted to
islam this building had served as a mosque, well the first mosque in fuahmulah,
and it is still serving.
Hoadhadu
is mostly known for its Hoadhadu misky and the Havitta, an ancient ruin of a
Buddhist stupa or temple.
Mādhado
offers you all the services of the atoll having the fuahmulaks, post office,
Secretariat of atoll and island council, Education center, bank, Police
station, youth and social center, sto along with both dhiraagu and ooredoo
antennas both standing at 400 feet.
Mādhado also houses the kedeyre misky one of the protected historical
sites.
Mālegan
Has the second fresh water lake in the atoll. The bandaara Kilhi. Built a long
time ago it was reconstructed in 2011 for the 17 the Saarc Summit.
Funādo
contain the famous Bodu kirigehe known to be the oldest tree in fuahmulah.
Dhoondigan
houses the 3 three transportation systems in fuahmulah. Fuahmulaks domestic
airport, fuahmulaks bus service and fuahmulaks harbor
